Kara W. Haggerty is an attorney with the Law Offices of Peter J. Russo, P.C. Kara earned a B.A. in History and Political Science from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and was awarded her J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University. She is admitted to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the Middle and Western Districts of Pennsylvania and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. She is also a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Family Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Cumberland County Bar Association, where she chairs the Family Law Section.
Kara concentrates her practice in the area of family law, including divorce, custody, adoption, child support, alimony and spousal support, as well as the distribution of assets before, during and after marriage. Prior to joining the practice, Kara served as Assistant Counsel with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Office of General Counsel, Board of Probation and Parole. Prior to her appointment, Kara was a partner with the law firm of Abom & Kutulakis, LLP where she focused her practice in the areas of juvenile and family law. Kara also worked for the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office, first as a law clerk and then following graduation, as an Assistant District Attorney.
Kara’s practice encompasses representing individuals during an emotional and potentially contentious time in their lives. She understands the need to navigate her clients through each step of the process. Kara is also trained as a collaborative law attorney and mediator.
